Yes, we provide a two year warranty on all of our products. Our warranty covers the following faults: Cracks in the wood, internal weights coming lose, veneer lift (chess boards), loose felt. Our warranty will not cover: discoloration due to sun exposure, accidental or deliberate damage, exposure to harsh chemicals or cleaning products.

The term 'triple weighted' is a slightly misleading marketing phrase coined by the Drueke company to describe their weighted chessmen. The chess retail industry got hold of this and started using the terms double, triple, and - in some extreme cases - quadruple weighted. It is mostly nonsense because the amount of weight you can insert into a chess piece is determined entirely by the base size. All of our chessmen are weighted for perfect balance and maximum weight for their size and style.

We have agreements with the producers of chess products in Italy, Greece, Germany, Netherlands, India, Poland, England and Spain. We deal directly with the makers to ensure the best value and product quality.

No, at this time, we don't offer any personalization or engraving. We wouldn't advise engraving directly into the wood. Instead, we recommend that a nicely engraved metal plaque be made and attached to the chess set.

Yes, we hold spares of most of our chessmen; in most circumstances, we can send these to you free of charge. The most common reason we are asked for spare pieces is because naughty dogs have chewed one! Just get in touch and let us know your original order ID, and we will supply you with a new piece.

Some of our sets are already matched with a chess piece storage case but not all. Each product listing has a "What's included" list under the images. If the set of choice is not listed as having a box, when you add it to the basket you will have a selection of up to 3 recommended cases that will accommodate the pieces in that particular set. No, as there is no such company. The term Staunton refers to the famous Victorian chess player who endorsed the design. Today, it's a generic term to describe sets made in the style and design of the original Staunton chessmen. We have what we believe is the world's best range of Staunton chessmen.
