The inlaid veneer squares are bordered with an elegant strip of ebony that separates the playing area from the edge.

The underside of the board features a lacquered wooden veneer and has felt pads to protect surfaces underneath. This board is best suited to ebony and rosewood chess pieces with a king height of 3.3 to 3.7 inches.
