    • At the Regency Chess Company we are excited to offer you one of the most elegant and beautiful Staunton chess sets we carry; The Sovereign series chessmen in ebony and natural boxwood.

    The set has been crafted using clean graded boxwood and ebony, by carvers at the world's finest producer of wooden chessmen. The ebony has been selected for its luxurious jet black look and the uniform tone across the set is truly superb. These sets are produced by special order in quantities of no more than ten at a time, making them particularly exceptional. Despite being hand-carved, the detail on the knights is virtually identical, due to just one knight carver being used for each and every one.

    At 3 inches, the king height may be seemingly small for a set of luxury chess pieces, but their broad bases mean the scale is spot on, weighting good and balance near perfect. These chessmen are most suited to a 20 inch board, although at a push can also be squeezed onto an 18 inch board.

    What is particularly spectacular about these pieces is there has been no compromise in their detail and styling whatsoever. To summarise; small is beautiful.
