Boasting an imperious King of 3.5 inch along with beautifully carved knights and bishops, the Reproduction Staunton Ebony Chessmen 1890 Model are supplied by the same chess workshop that produces some of the world's finest chessmen.

Turned from solid wood then painstakingly carved with exquisite detailing, not only are these reproduction pieces the classic Staunton design, but they also bear the original markings of the kings crown on 1 black knight, 1 black rook, 1 white knight and 1 white rook. This was a practical innovation to identify their position on the King’s side of the board. This is because, in descriptive chess notation, the rooks and knights were often referred to as being the ‘queens knight, or the ‘king’s rook’.
