Our new Highgrove Ebonised Staunton Chessmen are combined here with a classic walnut deluxe chessboard to give a very traditional looking chess set. The detailing on the chess pieces is outstanding and they are hand turned and carved from solid box wood.

It has a king height of 3 inches and the bases (wider than normal for a 3 inch set) sweep up elegantly to the shanks. Using only natural polishes and waxes, the finish is achieved by multiple stages of hand polishing.

The chessboard is made from European walnut and maple veneers, and the inlaid band of ebony which frames it also beautifully complements the ebonised chess pieces.

The set is very generously weighted for its size and each piece glides effortlessly across the board's surface, protected by a resilient green baize base.

To store the pieces when not in use, this set also includes a compact burl wood chess piece case. This wonderfully traditional Staunton set cannot fail to impress.
