Combining the mystical and legandary Isle of Lewis chessmen and a stunning mahogany and maple chessboard, this set is truly impressive. The substantial chessboard is European-made, using sustainable woods and is just over 21 inches (55 cm). It has a light layer of lacquer to offer protection whilst playing. The colours of both the chess board and chessmen are perfectly matched.

The outstanding British-made chessmen are brought to you by the National Museums of Scotland and are a very accurate reproduction of the original Isle of Lewis figures, found on the island over 200 years ago. The accuracy is assured as the moulds used are detailed laser scans of the originals, which are owned by the museum. The Lewis chess pieces are one of the most famous and original chess designs and their origins have become the stuff of legend. This set creates a beautiful centrepiece which is as much of a delight to look at as well as great to play with.
