With a subtle thin veneer of ebony separating the playing squares from the border, the coloring and tone of this board is best suited to black pieces, either solid ebony, ebonized Boxwood or even metal and the 1.6 inch squares require a set of chess pieces with a king height of 3 inches. The high gloss lacquer finish is highly contemporary, beautifully enhancing the wood grain and knotting. The base of this chessboard is a quality lacquered veneer construction with pads to protect your furnishings.
